Gus Gillespie Cup

The Gus Gillespie cup is awarded to the team most exemplifying the spirit of the Festival.

Gus Gillespie was a manager at The Chatsworth Hotel who died suddenly in January 2006. He had been a strong link between the Festival and the Hotel for over twenty years. His former employers donated the trophy, in his memory, to be awarded each year.

In 2006 the cup was awarded to Wight Dynamite for turning up in fancy dress, playing in fancy dress, being nearest the bar when informed of their success and having the audacity to turn up as Penguins...
